If you are in the market for a digital camera, look for something that you would take with you. Something small is more likely to be put in your pocket or purse when you head out the door.
You need a camera that you can turn the flash off, when your shooting through glass, the flash will cause you not to get the shot.
When taking shots indoors, turn up the ISO on the camera when shooting pictures, avoid using the flash if possible. If you can't turn it off, cover it with your hand or something.
As stated, 3MP will allow you to make 8X10's or your shots, and should work for document copying. One thing to remember, when working close up, even a little movement will blur the image, try to use a tripod when possible. If you are ablt to move the photo's/documents to be copied, you can use a pocket tripod and stand the item up in front of the camera.
If your shots are much slower than 1/30th of a sec (if your steady) you will need to use the tripod.
The Canon Elph style cameras are a great poeketable line of digital cameras. S230 and S400 come to mind.
If you like to research cameras, go to http://www.dpreview.comhttp://www.dpreview.com go into the forums and read what the owners of the camera you want have to say about it.
If you have any further question, please ask.
