Were the Botetourt County ones you were looking for the Joshua and Hester? I've tried several times to search for them just because of location and have had no luck. There is pretty good ideas of at least a line for the Ashe/Grayson Co crew that went from PA to NC to VA/NC and then again for the line that Joshua Phipps was from that went from PA straight to Botetourt. We can't figure out where we fit in with it. He was from the general area but just seems to show up with the Preston family. Want to know the weird part? The Phipps in Smyth Co all still live around the same Prestons land that ended up taking them in after they lost their stuff between split inheritance and William Phipps gambling problems in the early 1800s. The court house is full of crazy stories from our Phipps'. The one had an illegitimate child and sued for child support and actually got it. Well until the guy was killed by a bar maid anyways. Then my direct ancestor Gasper married that murdered guys sister. They seemed like some colorful people. William Phipps lost most of his land grant land and saw mill to a poker game. Yeah we are in the Phipps DNA. My uncle is the test right under yours I think. It's the Hiram Phipps in between Samuel and Benjamin. We're very close but still a few numbers off. It seems Joshua too is pretty close. We're all from the same group but where in the world does William come from on there. I have searched all of the public trees or anything I can find on both of them and can't find where we fit in. Notify Administrator about this message?
