Alva Phinney was my grandfather's half brother. My grandfather was Harold Merville Phinney b. 1908, d. 1986. Their father was William. Alva married May Stokes when he was 17. He has two daughters still living (from this first marriage), Laura and Lillian. My father has more information about Alva, but this is what I know off the top of my head.
