Clara: I just another look at your e-mail, and I think the E. Phinney is Ebenezer Finney, brother of my Nathan Newell Finney. Their father was Apollis/Apollus Finney and Phebe/Phoebe Buck was their mother. Ebenezer Finney married Nancy Rogers. I do not remember the names of her parents, but she is a Mayflower descendant. I have listed as their children: Martha, Simon, Nelson, Elsy, Eunice, Ophelia, Sarah C. (m. Schuyler F. Keeney), Helen, Louisa, Dilla, and Mary. I found this information on the Finney Genealogy Forum. If you haven't done this before, always cross-check with that forum because Finney/Phinney are used interchangabley. Another great place to check information is a book by Howard Finney, Sr., called "Finney-Phinney Families of America: Descendants of John Finney of Plymouth & Barnstable, Mass. & Bristol, R.I.; of Samuel Finney of Philadelphia, Pa.; and of Robert Finney of New London, Pa." published in 1957 by The William Byrd Press, Inc., Richmond, Virginia. This man spent a great portion of his lifetime researching, collecting, and collating Finney/Phinney information. You can access this book online thru HeritageQuest. Many libraries have HeritageQuest subscriptions. This book explained to me that my family is of the so-called Bristol lines. Happy hunting! Hope to hear from you again soon! Lynne B.
