Could anyone please point me in the direction of where I can find more information regarding the descendants of Abram L. ROCKWELL and Mary (Mame) (Mamie) Isabella PHINNEY?
Abram L. ROCKWELL was a s/o Justus Bailey ROCKWELL and Mary J. Estella JACKSON. Abram L. ROCKWELL was b. 15 Nov 1863 in PA, d. (?), r. (?). His siblings were: (1) William J. ROCKWELL, b. 23 Apr 1862 in PA, no further information; (2) Delos ROCKWELL, b. 10 Oct 1865 in PA, m. Ida Marion PHINNEY (sister of Mary Isabella PHINNEY), d. 25 Apr 1939, r. Sylvania Cemetery, Columbia Twp., Bradford Co., PA; and (3) Justus ROCKWELL, b. 12 Oct 1867 in PA, d. 6 Mar 1869, no further information. The brothers were probably born in Canton Twp., Bradford Co., PA. Their paternal grandparents were Jeremiah ROCKWELL and Suzannah BITNER. I have no information regarding their maternal grandparents.
Mary "Mame" Isabella PHINNEY was b. 19 Apr 1867 in LeRoy Twp., Bradford Co., PA, d. 9 Jun 1919 in (?), r. (?), a d/o Allen McKean PHINNEY and Hannah "Ruth" CLARK. Her paternal grandparents were Nathan "Newell" FINNEY (this is not a typo) and Emily "Melinda" BALLARD. Her maternal grandparents were Uriah CLARK and Ruth RIGGS. Her siblings were: (1) Ida Marion PHINNEY, b. 23 Sept 1864, m. Delos ROCKWELL, d. 8 Aug 1946 in (?), r. Sylvania Cemetery; (2) Addie May PHINNEY, b. 5 Aug 1871, m. Louis E. WILBUR, d. 24 Dec 1964, r. Addison Rurual Cemetery, Addison, Steuben Co., NY; (3) Bertha Helen PHINNEY, b. 10 Aug 1874, m. Edgar Wayne LILLEY, d. 25 Apr 1958, r. Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung Co., NY; (4) Dayton Leslie PHINNEY, b. 16 Sept 1876, m. Evangeline "Eva" May LOOMIS, d. 10 Oct 1916 in Canandaigua, Ontarion Co., NY, r. Windfall Cemetery, Granville Twp., Bradford Co., PA; and (5) Emmett LaMarr PHINNEY, b. 28 Mar 1879, m. Annorah "Nora" Bell WATTS, d. 31 May 1958, r. Windfall Cemetery. All siblings were b. in LeRoy Twp., Bradford Co., PA.
Abram ROCKWELL may have m. (1st) Amanda RHODES on 9 Jul 1882 in Grover, Canton Twp., Bradford Co., PA. I do not know if they divorced or if she d. young. I do not know if they had any children. I do not know if this is even the same Abram ROCKWELL.
According to an abstract from the "Mansfield Advertiser," Miss Mamie I. PHINNEY was m. to Abram L. ROCKWELL on 10 Jan 1889 in Granville Centre, Granville Twp., Bradford Co., PA.
According to the Bradford Co., PA, birth records , Abram and Mame had at least three children: (1) Perry, male, b. 9 Oct 1893 in Springfield Twp., Bradford Co., PA; (2) Mabel Ruth, female, b. 15 Dec 1894 in Springfield Twp., Bradford Co., PA; (3) Lyria, female, b. 22 June 1897 in Columbia Twp., Bradford Co., PA.
There is a male child by the name of Courtney mentioned in a newspaper article in the "Troy Gazette" in the "Columbia Cross Roads News" (typographic errors corrected by me appear in parentheses):
Twentieth Year, #968, Thursday, August 8, 1901:
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Phinney of East Canton visited her (their) daughter Mrs. Mame Rockwell Friday and Saturday. Master Courntey (Courtney) Rockwell went home with them for a visit.
The only child of Abram L. ROCKWELL and Mary "Mame" Isabella PHINNEY that I have any substantial information about is Mabel Ruth ROCKWELL.
According to a cousin who had a conversation with Mabel ROCKWELL several years before Mabel died, she (Mabel) stated that she was "adopted" by Frank PALMER and Adeline FROST. She could not provide this cousin with any information regarding her ROCKWELL siblings.
Mabel m. 12 Apr 1915 in (?) Ross Gordon WILLIAMS, b. 4 Apr 1882 in (?), d. 1956 in (?), r. Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, Bradford Co., PA.
This was not Ross's first marriage. He was m. (?) to Modine (?), b. 1887 in (?), d. 1912 in (?), r. Glenwood Cemetery.
Mabel and Ross resided in Troy. They had the following children: (1) Frances Evaline WILLIAMS, no further information; (2) Lois Modene WILLIAMS, b. 13 Jan 1918, d. 10 Mar 1918, r. Glenwood Cemetery; (3) Walter E. WILLIAMS (no further information); and (4) Elsie Louise WILLIAMS, b. abt. 1921, d. 2 Jan 1940 in Troy, Bradford Co., PA, r. Glenwood Cemetery.
It appears that Ross and Mabel divorced because he m. 28 Nov 1936 in Rochester, Monro Co., NY, Sarah THOMAS, b. 1892 in (?), d. 1975 in (?), r. Glenwood Cemetery.
Mabel m. (?) in (?) Charles Breed CARPENTER, b. 7 Nov 1899 in Syracuse, (?), NY, d. 26 Feb 1963 in (?), r. in South Onandaga, (?), NY. This was not his first marriage. I have no further information regarding him.
Mabel d. in 1988 and is r. near her adopted parents in King's Hill Cemetery, Sullivan Twp., Tioga Co., PA.
