Stephen, John and Ernest Philpot, Hutchings, Wood, Parnum
Hi. Can anyone help me with my Philpot ancestors? Here is basically all of the information I have about them.
The earliest known is Stephen Philpot. He presumably lived in England, and married Priscilla PARNUM.
They had a son also named Stephen Philpot. He married a woman named Harriet who's surname started with F.
They had a son named John Philpot. I think he was born about 1838 (if I have identified the right person, he was 43 at the 1881 census). It is known that his occupation was "cooper". I believe he lived in Cantebury, Kent, England. He married Mary Ann WOOD (not Woods, I'm fairly sure). She was about the same age as him and may have been born in Shadwell. I believe that, in 1881, this family resided at 1 Church Tce, London, Middlesex, England.
John Philpot and Mary Ann Wood had, I believe, 7 children. Their names were Ernest, James, Henry, William, Ada, Robert and Arthur. I know for certain that Ernest's middle name was Sidney. I don't know the middle names of any of the others.
Ernest Sidney Philpot was, I think, born about 1875-77. He married Annie Eliza HUTCHINGS on 25 Dec 1904, at St Barnabas, Walthamstowe, Essex. That leads me to think that she may have been from around that area. It is known that her father was Charles Hutchings, a carpenter.
Ernest Sidney Philpot and Annie Eliza Hutchings migrated to Western Australia, presumably some time after their marriage. They also had seven children. Arthur Alfred (an architect, who designed, among other things, the well known John Flynn Memorial Church in Alice Springs), Ernest Sidney (a fairly well-known artist in Western Australia), Charles John, William Robert, Elsie Maud, Doreen May and Merle Eileen.
Arthur Alfred Philpot was born on 16 Dec 1915, and married Fanny Olive THORPE on 4 Feb 1942. They had children Dr Christopher Ross Philpot (known as Ross) and Joy Penelope Philpot (my mother).
Any information about ANY of the people mentioned above, or any of their ancestors, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
