Wayne- I had a little free time so decided to take a look and seeif I could come up with something.I am beginning to wonder if maybe William Richard was born out of wedlock.Since he die d in Flat Creek area of lancaster Co. I looked to see if perhaps he was also born there. In the 1880 census in Flat creek is this family which I believe to be Frankieb. ca 1835
Richard (William Richard) b. 1872 and
Mary age b. ca 1861 who is undoubtably a sister
In 1870 in Lancaster Co. there is a family:
Dempsy Phillips age 65
Frankey age 40
Eliza age 13 and
Sarah (Mary ?) age 9
in 1860 the same family(except Dempsy's wife Mary is living)
Dempey (sic) 60
Mary 58
Frances 24
Peter P.17
William S.13
Mary J.12
Ann E. (Eliza?) 5
Sarah C. (Mary) less than one year
1850 this family is in adjacent Chesterfield Co.
Dempsey 49
Polly 49
Frances 18
Polly 17
Chapman 16
Hugh 15
Elisha 13
Aaron9
Peter9
William S.7
Thus it appears that Frances/Frankey/Frankie is a daughter of Dempsey and Mary/Polly Phillips. In addition to son William Richard it appears Farnces/Frankey also has a daughter Mary in 1880, born in 1860.This Sarah is of the age such she could be the Mary who appears with Frankey and Richard in 1880.Can find no other Frances/Frankie/Frankey in the area who seems to be a fit for William Richards mother but if this is her where is the father (Ranson/Ransom)/The only Ranson/Ransom in SC in 1850 and 1860 is in Laurens Co. on the west side of the state and he was born in NC.
