It definitely sounds like you belong to Phillips Family DNA Group 22, Sheila.There are seven men whose Y-DNA indicates they belong to Group 22.If you like, I will ask them to get in touch with you so that you can share genealogies.
The Y-DNA of Group 22 appears to be Anglo-Saxon.However, you must understand that only about 1% of a man's total DNA is Y-DNA.It is always possible that one of his other lines making up the remainder of his DNA is Native American.

You will note that the earliest identified Phillips paternal ancestor in this group is a Stephen Phillips who was born about 1745 in Virginia.I don't know if you descend from Stephen, but I think it is safe to say that Group 22 probably originated in the Albemarle/Amherst County area of Virginia.
If you have a male Phillips relative who is willing to take a painless and private Y-DNA test, you would be able to confirm whether or not you belong to Group 22.
