From DNA testing , I find that I have at least 2 cousins that are Phillips and they carry the Massie DNA . Working together we have found that their common ancestor is Joseph M Phillips born 1818 in Greenbrier Co, Va . His father was Abner Phillips born 1795 in Greenbrier Co, Va . His father was James Phillips born 1775 Greenbrier Co, Va .His father was James Phillips born 1744 in Kent Co, Maryland . We believe that sometime within these 4 generations an event occured that possibly some Massie children lost their parents and were adopted by a Phillips family and changed their name to Phillips . If anyone has any information about this event , please answer this or email me .
