Hi, again, JB,
I found your grandfather Donnie Phillips on the 1910 census in Orrum, Robeson Co, NC as follows:
Donnie Phillips, 23, head b NC, father b NC, mother b NC
Mary Phillips, 22, wife, b NC, father b NC, mother b NC
Jauneta Phillips, dau, 8 months, b NC
I think I also found him on the 1920 census in Orrum, Robeson Co, where he is listed as Don Philips, 71 years old.I think his age was written down wrong, because his mother Rosa is living in his household, and her age is given as 32.It looks like the census taker just got the ages turned around. In any case, this census indicates that Don was a widower in 1920.
I can't find Don on the 1930 census in Robeson Co NC, but I did find a Pearley Phillips. She appears to be married to someone named Elias Phillips. Here is the entry:
Elias Phillips, head, 40, b NC,
Pearley Phillips, wife, 33, b NC
Martha Phillips, dau, 16, b NC
Letha Phillips, dau, 13, b NC
Ruth Phillips, dau, 4, b NC
Do any of these names mean anything to you?
Nancy
