This isn't much help, Richard, but the only person I can find on the 1880 census in Monroe Co MS who qualifies to be your grandmother is listed as Jessie on the census, not Jeffie.Perhaps the census taker misunderstood her name and wrote it down wrong. Here is the family group:
Isaac J Curry, 51, head, b TN, father b TN, mother b TN
Elizabeth Curry, 39, wife, b MS, father b TN, mother b MS
George L Curry, 13, son, b MS, father b TN, mother b MS
Jessie Curry, 8, son, b MS, father b TN, mother b MS
Joseph Curry, 6, son, b MS, father b TN, mother b MS
Polly A Curry, 1, daughter, b MS, father b TN, mother b MS
Jessie C Phillips, 13, stepdaughter, b MS, father b AL, mother b MS
Sarah R Phillips, 12, stepdaughter, b AL, father b AL, mother b MS
I think this Jessie might be your grandmother because she is the right age and she said her father was born in Alabama. Your grandmother Jeffie said on later censuses that her father was also born in Alabama. If this is the right person, at least you now know that her mother was named Elizabeth and she had a sister named Sarah.
