E.P. Phillips attends 17th Ill Cav. reunion, Chicago, 1898
St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, 23 Sept. 1898:
E. P. Phillips and wife attended the annual reunion of the 17th Ill. Cav. at the Briggs House, Chicago, on Saturday last. About 50 members of the regiment were present, among them Dr. S. K. Crawford of Sedalia,Missouri, who is chief surgeon of the Second Missouri Infantry. Many of the "boys" were accompanied by their wives. The day was very pleasantly spent. Dr. Crawford was called upon and in response made a very interesting speech, during the course of which he gave an account of some of his experience in the late Spanish war. Col D. J. Hynes gave a very nice talk; so also did his wife whom the older citizens of St. Charles will remember as Laura King.
Officers were elected as follows:
President, E.H. Gunn
Vice President, E. Dunn
Sec'y and treasurer, I.M. Mallory
