Inaccurate Information by Richard Ripley
I wish someone would tell me what to do about a serious problem.
I'm no different from all of you.My family history is very important to me, and I have spent many long and difficult hours working on the research.I know other researchers share my feelings about finding inaccurate information.A couple of years ago I shared some of my research with Richard Ripley.I did this because his family tree database (then on rootsweb) had incorrect information and I thought the best way to handle the situation was give him the correct information. He took my information, used it in his database, gave me credit for the research, but then twisted everything around. One example: My great, great grandfather Nelson Phillips was born about 1788 in Amherst County, Virginia, and he married his cousin Rosamond Phillips. Her father was John Phillips.Mr. Ripley has my great, great grandfather married to someone named Rosa Enfield Phillips, and her parents as William Phillips and Elizabeth Fowke. This is not a little or simple mistake to me.This is one of many, many errors involving my family in his database.I have asked him several times to either correct the information or remove it from his database, and I never get an answer.
If anyone has any idea of what I can do, please let me know.
