Jack Edwin Pancoast Jr. born Manila about 1942
I'm trying to track down Jack Edwin Pancoast or his family. He was the son of Jack Edwin Pancoast and Julia Christine (maiden name unknown).Jack Sr. died on the submarine the USS Grunion at the end of July 1942. All the families ever knew was that it had disappeared on it's maiden voyage somewhere in the Aleutian islands of Alaska. The submarine has now been found by the sons of the commander because of records found and transcribed by a Japanese researcher. We are trying to let the families of all 70 sailors know of the find. We have found relatives for all 70 but Jack Pancoast Sr.'s brother tells me that Jack had a son but that Julia and Jack returned to the Philippines and they lost contact. I found a passenger list for the SS Uruguay for passengers that sailed from Manila in the Philippines on July 24, 1945 and arrived in San Francisco, CA. It lists a Julia Pancoast married and written in it says "Christine" and widowed. Julia Christine's age is given as 26 born in Manila and a citizen of the Philippines. It also gives her race as "Filipino". Then her son is listed as Jack Pancoast Jr. age 3, also born in Manila, a citizen of the USA, and father born in Pennsylvania, USA.Jack Pancoast Sr. was from the Pittsburg, Pennsylvania area.I don't know yet when they returned to the Philippines. If anyone can give me a clue as to where to look for this family I would appreciate it. I have no idea how to find someone in the Philippines. If any of you wish to check out the website dealing with all this go to www.ussgrunion.com
