Hi Michael,
What Queca's trying to say is basically the Añonuevo surname doesn't exist except with Filipinos.Try to see the copy of the Catologo Alfabetico de Apellidos (Surname Catalog) to verify that surname did come from a book.
As Queca mentioned, perhaps you do have some Spanish ancestry and that they changed their surname, but that's very, very rare.
I'm just curious, these records dated in the 1600s they actually showed the surname for these people who lived in the 1600s actually showed that surname of Añonuevo in those particular records?
In the church records that I go through, the surnames don't appear until 1850/1851 which is a year or two after the surname implementation of 1849 was decreed by Gov. Clavería.
