You will see I posted some info last year under Philbin of Partry -- I had not gone back far enough in these listings or I would have seen your post. However, whilst many Christian names are common within the Philbin family including my ancestors from Partry, it is quite difficult to relate one family to another.
Most of those around the time of your fathers birth, were on my side born in Scotland and the previous generation were the migrants.
The surnames also are similar:
John Philbin = Mary Farraher ( Gorteenmore bef 1820)
MichaePhilbin (1847 Ireland) = Anne Burke (1850) (m in Stirling)
Anne Burke's parents were Francis Burke and Mary Joyce.
The John of 1820 was my gg grandfather.
There are still Hannigans but more seem to be Heneghan in Partyry today and they pronounce the name Heenahan.
