My research indicates James was born in Pickaway County,OH.
He married Sarah ?? 22 September 1819. They had six children, Absolom being my direct descendent. With James' untimely death, Sarah and the children moved to White County, Indiana. Property records reflect both Sarah and her son Silas, owning ground. Absolom (aka-Abraham) married Mary Templeton 17 June 1852 and John Thomas was born 19 March 1853 in White County. John married Mary E. McDonald 21 October 1877 in White County and they were blessed with eight children.
Research takes the tree back to George Phebus and Anne Shiall (aka-Street). There is controversy as to whether they had children or there was a second marriage late in life to Mary Jones who provided the offspring.
