My Theodore Phaneuf did have a brother Cyrille.Theo was born 1840 but I have conflicting info on Cyrus's birth date, some info points to before 1840 and some a bit after. He was born in Canada. They married sisters in MA in 1866, Theo married Agnes LaFerriere, and Cyrille married Eliza LaFerriere, although I have found many misspelled versions of their last name.Theo and Cyrille were both painters in Worcester, MA thru the 1870s-1890s.There may have been other siblings, one Josephine and one Horace, but not 100% sure on them yet.
I have some info on Cyrille's children from NEGHS site - so far I have an Edward d 1891, a stillborn/Mary Delphine d 1866, Philomene b 1871. In 1900 census shows them having 5 out of 7 children living still.
Their parents were Francois and Sophia. In the 1880s Sophia alternated between both sons, but not sure of her maiden name yet.Have made a guess from Elie book, but don't have anything other than circumstancial proof.
Theo died 1911 in RI in a soldier's home (he was in Civil War).Cyrus is listed on Theo's next of kin on death certif.Cyrus died between 1911 and 1930, but wife Eliza shows up on 1930 census as a widow living with her daughter Emma and husband George Delorme.
Would love to talk more and see if there indeed is a connection - there seems to be more than 1 Cyrus Phaneuf out there that I have discovered so far.My email is [email protected]
