I just looked in my POVBII and found the e-mail notes from my last inquiry into this Robert Peyton. In an e-mail dated February 18, 2007, Larry wrote to Joan regarding this Robert Peyton (FE-1) and Anne Rush. If I understand this correspondence correctly then it was decided that this Robert Peyton was the son of Captain Valentine Peyton (G-1)?? I have a handwritten note in my book that this Valentie Peyton now belongs in the G line. Has anyone else done the DNA testing for this G line? I noticed that Eleanor Peyton married a Willaim Powell Jr., son of an Elizabeth Lane (again that Lane name which is also connected to our Thomas Peyton of Morgan Co., AL).
The POVBIII states that this Robert Peyton's estate was probated in Franklin Co., NC on Nov. 30, 1785. Per my Handbook for Genealogists Franklin Co., NC was formed on 4/14/1778 from Bute Co., NC and that Bute Co., NC was formed in 1764 from Granville ad Northampton Counties (and Bute County was discontinued in 1779). Again this seems to be the closest location so far that I have found for an earlier Peyton ending up in Granville Co., NC.
