Tom,
Some say that the PATTY surname is somehow connected with the PETTY surname, but I have seen nothing bonafide to convince me. The problem seems to be that both lived in the same areas during early and colonial American times, and had forenames alike...James, Charles and William for instance. I am a second generation of Patty searchers and have been one myself on and off for nearly 20 years.
