I am trying to find out where in Ireland did John Pettitt came from before he arrived in Canada.
He was born around 1811 and was in Canada by 1843 He had two wives Sarah who died young and Catherine who survivved until about 1900.
They lived in the Cardwell district which is now Adjala township in Simcoe County in Ontario Canada.
John himself died about 1880
I am aware of four children from the second marriage including my great Grandfather John William Pettitt. Also Eliza Ann, Henry and Oliver.
I have found one from the first marriage
My Grandfather dropped the double tt on the end of the name around 1900
I'd appreaciate any assistance anyone can provide
