I seem to have found more information on my g-g-g-g-grandmother than on her husband. I am hoping that someone on the Pettitt side of the family can help me find my Campbell ancestors. Sarah "Sallie" Owen Pettitt (3 April 1786-16 August 1861) married Nathaniel Campbell (2 Sept 1780-16 September 1823) on 17 January 1805 in Fauquier County, VA. I found her parents - Thomas Pettitt and Bethelon Owens Pettitt, but not his. Hints that his father is George Campbell who died in Virginia in 1784 can't be independently verified. I have information that his grandfather is Archibald Campbell from Argyll, Scotland. I can't verify this either because I don't have the missing generation. And, finding a particular Archibald Campbell from Argyll is like trying to find one specific Sallie Pettitt. Sarah married a second time after the death of Nathaniel. He was Andrew Gwinn (m. 26 July 1831) of Washington County, KY. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
