Hello -
I don't believe I have a familial connection but I am aware that James Sumner Pettit was involved in the Spanish American war and that there is a mountain peak named after him in Yosemite - Pettit Peak el 10788 ft. The Peak was named after James by President Theodore Roosevelt. Thought this may be of interest - if you are not already aware of it.
Are you realated to James?
John Pettit
