Hi, searching for one of my great-grandmothers who married a Mr. Clark in GA or MS ca 1820. My Mary (no proof of maiden name) was b ca 1780, she was in MS TERR by 1800 as Mary Griffin (possibly thru a relationship).

1850 Camden GA Census enumerates a Mary P Clark b abt 1785 NY living with Thomas B. Clark b abt 1825 GA.

Per Ancestry.com public trees: It appears this Mary was nee Pettit, m John Clark b 1784 Camden GA, d 1840 Camden GA. Their listed children, all b Camden GA 1822-1835:

--Jacob Francis
--Thomas B
--Cader
--Frederick James
--Amanda M

Other names associated with my Mary: Ellison/Allison, Stewart, Griffin......possibly Hampton and Silivan/Sullivan(t) also.

I know this is a long shot, however, I'm also extremely curious how/why/when a lady from NY made her way to GA? I would appreciate any info on this Mary Pettit.

Thank you, Lynda Stewart Misner......email direct: lysestewart@hotmail.com

PS I'm a Stewart researcher.
