Kristy, I too have Pettis and Cranford ancestors from Twiggs County, Ga. I show a Mary F. Pettis, born circa 1861 in Georgia, to William J. Pettis (born c. 1818 to 1820 in Georgia, died between 1880 and 1900) and Adaline (last name unknown, born in January 1824 in Georgia, date of death unkown). I have no further information on Mary, so I don't know if this is the woman you are seeking.

My great-great-grandfather, Stephen Cranford (born 1845), married Amanda Pettis. And Stephen's father, William JOHN Cranford (born c. 1826 in Georgia) married Harriett Pettis (b. September 1834 in Georgia).

There definitely was a connection between the two families, who probably lived in close proximity. Maybe this will help in your search. Dan Baker
