I am the son of Michael Willard Pettipas and Marjorie Mae Guthreau Pettipas, who lived in Tracadie, N. S., and imigrated to New Jersey in 1932.I live in Dallas, Texas now.I was born in Newark, N. J. on May 17, 1933, and after my mother died in 1937, returned to Nova Scotia to live with my aunt and uncle, William Perrault and Guthreau Perrault, in Monestary, Nova Scotia. They had an adopted daughter named Adeline, who moved to Toronto, Ontario, and with whom I'm no longer in contact. My mother, and aunt, had a sister Eleanor Guthreau Gerrior of Truro, Nova Scotia, who married Joseph Gerrior who had two sons, Edward and Bernard; and a brother, whose first name I no longer recall. The brother moved also to New Jersey, and his sons and daughter live there now in Maplewood, N. J.Their names are also Guthreau.
I'm not sure if I'm in this lineage but I imagine I'm not far away from it, if not.My father was born in 1897 or 1898, which might place him as being a son of Arthur Pettipas 1868.I had heard that my always insisted on using our French name instead of the Boston version of Pitts.
Which may have some significance in this lineage investigation since the name Pitts WAS used by my name sake in the 19th century.
I'd be interested in hearing any more information you may have regarding our families.
