I'm searching for a Joseph Pitts (b.1725) who lived in Chatham, NY. He has sons Joseph (b.1752) and Amasa (b.1754). He appeared out of nowhere and we have had no luck finding where he came from. Local records say he is essentially the original settler of the area.

I only discovered the Pitts/Pettipas connection today, and I wonder if he didn't perhaps come from Canada and/or change his name along the way. If anyone has any relevant information I'd really appreciate it.
