Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

The data about Richard as written in the 1906 book was based upon a statement made by Richard in his old age. A new search was made by the Pettingell Family group several years ago, using all possible periods of time.
Richard Petingale was born 6 Jan 1610, Shotesham, Norfolk he emigrated as a servant on board the ship "Lion's Whelp" arv 29 June 1629 in Salem, NE he died abt 1695 Newbury, NE
He married about 1642 in Salem NE to Joanna Ingersoll b 3 Mar 1625 Sutton, Beford, Eng. The Ingersoll family arrived on boad the 2d (of 19) ships, "Mayflower," on 15 May 1929. She died 19 Sep 1705, Newbury, New England.
I posted the chapter " The First American Petingale," on a Gealogy.com site. The "complete" line is found the the book "The Petynghale Family, " FHL #1598131, item 1, with all references and sources cited.
