I have a letter written by Dorothy HAYNES dated April 10, 1978
to the Washington Co. Historian, Ft. Edward, N.Y. It says, and I quote, "A Jesse Petteys, born Mar. 1st 1775 is the one I am interested in. (My ancestor). He died in Wayne County, but might have been born in Washington Co. He married a Phoebe Hanon (or Hammond) Feb. 20, 1799."
There is also another souce quoted by Antoinette Hammond Hitt in her Book of Ancestry, and I quote, "....Other children listed in my grandmother's records include Benjamin, Nathaniel, Soloman, Edward, Phoebe (whose married name was Pettis), ....." and that was given to me by Gllen Randall South.
Also, they are buried together in Lock Cemetery; Says "Phebe, Wife".
Also, there's a notation made by Mildred D. Myers, Moravia, NY that says, and I quote "Jesse 1775-1867 marr. Phoebe Hanon 1782-1854".
Hope this helps. Pam
