Hope this helps an aussie link hopefully!!

My great grandmother was Elizabeth Ada Petter and she was born on Aug 31 1872 in Australia. Her father was Thomas Petter who was born around the 1840's in Sussex England. His Father is also supposed to have been born Thomas and i believe did not come to australia. His wife's name may have been Lucy but the surname is unknown. Elizabeth Ada had brothers named Robert, Walter and Thomas and sisters named Mary Ann, Jessie May, Alice, Sarah. My search seems to show that they keep repeating names so these may help with links to earlier generations. Maybe the children in Australia were named after relatives at home in the old country. The name Petter here in our family is not very prominent. i believe only one male remains with the name--too many girls in our family. kerrie Flynn
