Hello, All.
I'm back. After a few years of grad school and in the final draft of my historical novel...here I am.
I echo my earlier question about the exact nature of the Ipswich Tryalls.I am in New England now (for a bit) and I am hoping to contact the Ipswich Historical Society and get the show on the road about this unanswered question.Of course it is probably day to day stuff as in hunting ducks on the wrong day of the week, working on the Sabbath and all of the usual church cop stuff...but it would be interesting to actually read authentic documents.
Second issue for me is that I have had zero luck finding ANYTHING out about my (Abenaki) Great Grandmother, Nellie Baldwin Pettengill (m. Clarence Pettengill).I've been to her gravesite.. I know her birth and death date. What I want to know is her Native American information. She is a narrator in my book...does anyone have the name of an organization that has birth records and such for Northern Vermont (W'abanaki) Native Americans...they resided on Lake Champlain.I went to the museum in Swanton last summer, after a telelphone conversation with the curator giving me the hours. It is about a 4 hour drive for me.I arrived 2 hours before closing, and the doors were locked, lights out, etc.I have contacted many organizations and have been ignored except for a woman who offered to do a psychic reading over the telephone. Sigh.
So any Native American resources are greatly appreciated.
I hope that all is well.
Best,
Maryjane (Mj)
