Sat 27 Dec 2008, I just received a message from a Jeremy Dixon, and this was the spot that the search engine located.
I could not find a jeremytrewindixon.
According to my research , which has been recorded in Utah, there are only 30 some variations of the surname, most likely due to the illiteracy of the times, but no one has ever been named "George Pickingill."
Several facts are not mentioned in the shipping of people from UK to the colonies: There were 19 ships named Mayflower, why did the first one bring a Dutch sect that was destined for Virginia come straight west following the fishing route to Ma.? Why did the series of ships bring more indentured servants to MA? That is what Richard Pettingale was when he emigrated and was a servant of the Ingersolls for seven years, which was the legal term for any indentured servant *an odd name for a type of slave* My book has been filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah and it was taken by a local librarian to Utah and filmed twice, because part of it was left out of the first filming, there are thirty some recorded spellings of the surname but no "Pickingill," were ever found or included in the listing. See the first chapter of the book, it is available at any Family History Library, but my email address in it may be an old or unused one.
As far as I can discover from established records, the early family members were all in Norfolk and a few went to London
