Petrie Family

Hi,
I have recently started to research the Petrie family and can't seem to get very far. My mother was Mary Catherine Petrie , DOB 9-25-1915 St. Francis Co, near Farmington, MO. She was the daughter Newton Isaiah Petrie, DOB 3-11-1889 and Mary Elsie Young. Newton was the son of Mathias Petrie, DOB 3-3-1858 in Mississippi County, MO, and Sarah Catherine Mills. There was another son, Robert who married a Sarah Crestwell. Mathias' father was Alexander Petrie who was married to Elizabeth Schell (Shell). Family lore says Alexander and an un-named brother originated in Glasgo, Scotland, and came to the US where Alexander was a "tinker" by trade and announced his presence in neighborhoods by the ringing of a hand bell. It is thought that he was in Kentucky before coming to Missouri. Any help that could be given would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
