Hi,
The Surname PETREE/IE/REY or just about any soundex spelling are both found in Lancaster Co. and Berks Co. PA in from 1730 to the late 1700's when the children started to move to other areas, mostly either Tenn or NC/SC then into the Ohio Valley by the mid 1800's.
