Per your "dollar in the will" question, I don't have a real answer, except to say I think the matter may have been genetic with Petrea males (at least until now). My grandfather was W. O Petrea, a direct descendant of Johan etc. He had 10 sons, 1 daughter. I'm from his 9th son. When I got married, my grandfather sent me a wedding gift of $10. When the grandDAUGHTERS got married, he did not send money. I think he learned it from his father etc. etc.
What a laff! The family was (until feminism) highly patriarchal, male-oriented, etc etc. Just a thought. If you are interested in more about the Petreas, let me know.
