HELP! Been at this for two years now and this is what I have. My father was Merlin Guy Petitt born in 1905 in Thebes, Illinois. His father was harry Petitt married flora kelly Petitt(year?)Flora's mother was Louise Mccullah married John kelly. John was born in 1841. Had more dates and info on this, but destroyed in fire. Merlin had five brothers, Alan, Preston, Hiram kenneth, Hugh and Ethridge. Uncle Lewis, harry's brother had several sons, one was bill and another was Harvey, of harvey Petitt Road in San Joaquin valley in ca. I am looking to go past louise Mccullah. i need her maiden name etc. she would have been born around 1800-1820. Anybody got ideas, or more info? I believe her county in Illinois was Alexander or Union. By the way petitt's originally came from Virginia, so anybody in Virginia that has ideas, PLEASE! It was two brothers who came over from England, but orininally from France. The year is suppose to be 1776. They split because one was a horse thief and the other a preacher. The preacher didnt was to be associated with the horse thief, so he changed his name. Originally it was Petit (small in French) Pettit and Petitt came from that split. anybody respond send stories etc.
