For a long time, I have been searching for this part of the family, but have always come up short, because I had been given some wrong information. I recently received some very good information that I wish to post and see if anyone knows me now.
My grandma was Ora Virginia King, who married Millard Henderson Shelton in 1910. According to the letter I received, her parents were Katy Petitt King and Ben King. Katy's parents were Hiram and Caroline Mansker, sister of Jacob L. Mansker.
My grandma was born in Thebes, Illinois on 1 April, 1894. In the 1900 census, she is living with Jacob and wife, and is listed as a niece. In the 1910 census, before her marriage, she is living with Claude and May Drass, and is listed as a cousin.
Katy died within weeks of having Ora, and her father died a short time later.
Anyone know me now? I have also been looking under the spelling Pettit.
