Anna Frieda Eva (Horn) Peterson, of Marengo, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2005, at the age of 98 years, 7 months and 13 days at Florence Nursing Home in Marengo, Illinois.
She was born in Fulda, Minnesota on March 4, 1907, to John and Frieda (Dierks) Horn. At the age of four the family moved to Greenwood, Wisconsin. When she was 19 she moved to Woodstock, Illinois and began working at Todd School It was while working here that she met Clarence Russell Peterson. They were married on June 17, 1931 in Woodstock. They farmed in the Woodstock area for seven years before moving to Marengo, Illinois in 1938. The farm on the corner of Prospect Street and Route 176 was their home until Clarence passed away in 1988. Anna continued to live on the farm until she moved to the REst Assured Retirement hOme in 1998.
Anna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo for 67 years. She served as a Sunday school teacher, member and past president of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League and was active in Ladies Aid for 67 years.
She is survived by three sons, Gerald (Shirley) Peterson of Rockford, IL, Russell (Jacquie) Peterson of Caledonia, IL, Vernon (Debbie) Peterson of Rochester, MN; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband Clarence, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Walz, three sisters: Theresa Danielson, Edna Carlson and Eleanora Johnson and two brothers: Raymond and Dale Horn.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 21, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo, with REv. Glen Borhart officiating. Interment in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
