There have been and continue to be several Petersons in Stowe, Vermont. My G-G-G Grandfather was Amander Peterson, lived in the town of Mansfield, Vermont in a part of the town that is now part of Stowe. In fact, he was the state representative who introduced legislation to dissolve the town of Mansfield and divide it between Stowe and Cambridge.
Amander, like most of the Stowe Peterson's was the son of Ephraim Peterson of Claremont New Hampshire, who later moved to Weathersfield, Vermont, then Barnet and then Mansfield.I know that Amander also had a brother George who also lived in Stowe for a time, but then moved to Owen, Illinois and appears there in the 1860 census. In this census he is listed as 41.Amander was 49 in 1860.Elias is not Amander's son, but he might be George's or a nephew of theirs. If your interest, email me at [email protected] and I can try to find out more about Elias for you.
