After digging in the Mogeltonder birth records, it appears the twin story was a family myth. Hans Martensen (Ane Cathrine Mortensen's father) is recorded as a single birth on 11/16/1811. He may have had a brother, Niels, born 2/23/1814. Hans father, Niels Mortensen, was born 10/30/ 1759. He did not marry his wife, Marie Kathrine Nicolaisen (b. 1870) until after the 1801 census. It appears Hans (b. 1811) was their first child. This makes it likely that the marriage took place around 1810 when Niels was 50. Several birth sponsors were from Ved Aaen.

Hans Peter Petersen's family was from Ruttebol. His parents were Boy Rasmus Petersen (b. abt. 1810) and Anna Maria Hansen (b. abt. 1815). It appears they had 13 children between 1840 and 1864.

If you have any information about these family lines, I'd love to hear from you. Also, If I can help fill in any blanks for you, I' love to be of assistance.
