Greg - indeed this information was very helpful, thank you. I knew of Samuel and Margaret Miller, John Thomas's parents, but didn't know of any siblings and of Samuel's parents. Unfortuantely I do not have a website to direct you to, so I will give you some information here to fill some of the blanks at your end.
John Thomas Peterman was my mother's grandfather and she knew him well. I knew many of John Thomas's (He was often called "JT" by the way) daughter's and spoke to his youngest (and only living) daughter today in fact. She is my Aunt Winifred and is now 95 years old.
John Thomas Peterman married Elizabeth Jane (Bessie) Joyce (her parents were John Joyce, b. 1835 in Paris, France, and Jane Hawkins, b. 1842 in Plymouth, England)
JT and Bessie had 8 daughters:
1. Ethel (b. 1888 and d. 1975) married Arthur Giles (one daughter - Patricia, who married Gus VanDeKeere)
2. Lily (b. 1891 and d. 1952) was unmarried
3. Dora Miller Peterman (b. 1894 and d. 1982) married Burt Muirhead (3 children - Bob [Helen], Tom [Edna], and Marguerite [Inksater])
4. Margaret (b. 1896 and d. 1979)(details of her 2 marriages are unclear)
5. Sadie (b. 1898 and d. 1984) married Arthur Wilson and later Clyde Thomas (she had no children)
6. (my grandma) Agnes Yule (b. 1901 and d. 1989) married Adam Irvine and had 7 seven children. Aileen (Harold Boyce), Lorna (Robert Francis), Barbara (Bob Headrick), Sinclair (m. Leona Pinette), Joan (Blaine Attig), Jean (Ken Sharratt), and Agnes Catherine (Frederick James Wessel)
7. Jean (you have her full name)(b. 1904 and d. 1973) married Norman Smethurst. They had one son, Dick (Donna).
8. Winnifred (b. 1909) married Alex White. Had 2 daughters, Lenore (Roberts) and Elsie (Murphy).
