Robert I have a Robert PETER who emigrated to the USA from Cornwall in 1817.Much of the detail comes from some work done in the 1960 by a Walter THOMAS.He referred to the family as the Kentucky PETERs
This is probably because of his son Robert PETER who moved to Kentucky in 1832, he was a Professor of Chemistry and died in Kentucky in 1894, his wife died in Winton, near Louiseville in 1907

Extract startsRobert and Johanna Peter emigrated to America in 1817 and settled in Baltimore Maryland in 1817. Walter was unable to learn the name of the father of this Robert Peter.Dean THOMAS has linked this Robert Peter (noted as the "Kentucky Peters" in Walter Thomas' Family History book, page 63 Appendix "B") to the basic "Peter" family as the 3rd child of Richard Peter, and wife, Elizabeth Turner. Walter did not show this linkage, and it may not be correct, but it seemed the best place to link this group of Kentucky Peters until more research contradicts this linkage. Otherwise this Peter group would be unlinked in this genealogy. Walter said that the Louisville telephone had quite a large number of Peter subscribers at the time he closed his writing effort in 1977.
