Several of us Johns(t)on cousins have spent years searching for the parents of John Sugar Johnston born about 1779 supposedly in Va. We have been all around Robin's barn in Va searching for him .
we have looked at the Johnston's in Bedford, Montgomery/Giles ,Greenbrier and Monroe counties. It is enough to make your head swim. We have finally decided he must have been an immigrant, orphan, indentured servant or fugitive.
He was married to Mary"Polly" Brumfield of Montgomery Co Va about 1805 but we cannot find that record. He father was james Brumfield the 4th born in Augusta Co Va 1753. Sugar and Polly moved to Kanawha Co Va where their first child was born. Part of Kanawha is now Cabell Co but they ended up in the long run living in what became Lincoln Co WV after the civil War. Sugar ,as he liked to be called died in 1849?50. No one in modern times of recorded history has found any record of his death except his will which is no help.
Any possibility he could belong to Eve and Ezekiel? I hope I can find my way back to this page as I have marked it a favorite, but just incase I can't my address is Grammymirt@aol.com Thanks so much. Your information is well researched and fascinating. Marilyn Lilly
