William,
I am currently researching information on the Rev. John Perry, (a Free Christian Baptist minister) born 1821 in New Brunswick. His father was born in the U.S. and mother in what is now New Brunswick (which pre US Revolutionary War was part of Nova Scotia).I have no information as yet on his parents or brothers and sisters ... still searching that out.Interestingly enough though, one of the Rev. John's sons (my great grandfather) was named John Nelson Perry. He was born in New Brunswick in 1863 (I believe King's County - still confirming that).Your note makes me wonder if he was called John "Nelson" after aprevious John Nelson (possibly grandfather)?Another coincidence in our stories is that our "loyalist" ancestor was presumably a Samuel Perry - who brought his family to Lower Canada (Cote du Lac - now Quebec) in about 1776.He and one son then returned to the U.S. and fought wtih the British in one of the New York regiments.Upon returning to Canada, we believe he was granted land in "Nova Scotia/New Brunswick".
For more info on land grants and loyalist in Lower Canada, you may want to check both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia genwebs for information.
