Obit: Mary Grantham Perry
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Mary Grantham Perry, 90, of Burlington, passed away at the Hospice Home on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at 6:45 a.m. following several years of declining health.
A native of Wayne County, she was the wife of the late John Franklin Perry and the daughter of Murray Gaston Grantham and Pashia Holland Grantham, both deceased. She was a child caregiver and a homemaker. She was a member of Front Street Christian Church where she was an active member of the Women's Missionary Group for many years.
Mary was a loving mother and wife.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Perry Terrell of Memphis, Tenn., wife of the late Allen Freemon Terrell of Burlington; two sons, John Roland Perry and Jerry Ray Perry, both of Burlington; two grandchildren, Lorie Terrell Patterson and husband David Bruce Patterson of Memphis, Tenn., and Jerry Ray Perry and wife Amanda Embry Perry of Burlington; five great-grandchildren, Savannah and Scarlett Patterson of Memphis, Tenn., Taylor and Jacob Perry of Wilmington and Ayden Perry of Burlington; one sister, Azilee Daughtry of Elon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lela Pike, Mildred Sparrow and Ora Mae Grove; three brothers, Braxton Pike, Ollen Pike and Roland Grantham; and one grandson, Christopher Ray Perry.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. by Pastor Steve Pruitt and Dr. Dace A. Lewis Jr. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence of a son, John Perry, 1605 Belmont Street, Burlington, N.C.
