I have an ancestor, John Pannel (aka Pennel, Pennell, Pannell etc) b. 1791 in Mecklenburg Co., NC. He named his oldest son Perry. Perry named his son James Perry. John's son John named his son James Perry. There are John Perry, Joel Perry etc. scattered throughout the family. Does anyone have a Perry connected to a Pannel? John Pannel's family moved to Knox Co., TN where he enlisted in 1813 and fought at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in Alabama with Andrew Jackson. He married his wife Jane in 1818 in Blount Co., TN and was on the 1830, 1840 censuses in Monroe Co., TN. He died in Polk Co., TN. Did a Perry fight in the war with him and he was so impressed that he named his son after him? Who was the famous "James Perry" that could have inspired my family to name kids after him? John was very particular about the names he bestowed on his children...Mariah b. 1819, Perry b. 1820, John Blackmore Hughes b. 1825, Grizzy Jane b. 1830...I know where all these names came from except Perry...I need help....
Thank you so much...
