I to am wondering who the father was of Lewis Perry was. In 1810 in the Woodford County census, Tandy K. Perry is listed only 2 names down from Lewis Perry, which makes me think he probably lived close by. Do you happen to know who the parents of this Tandy Perry are?
I think Lewis was somehow connected to this Pierce Perry family of Orange County, VA. But I don't know how as of yet. Lewis seemed to be a really popular name in this Pierce Perry family. And Pierce's son James married Nancy Tandy, and I don't know how, or if the Tandy Perry of Woodford is a decedent.
I think as of right now, that my ancestor, John Perry (d.1811) of Washington County, KY, was possibly the son of John Perry, who was the son of Pierce Perry. John Perry, son of Pierce Perry, also had a son named Lewis, but this Lewis is a different Lewis from the Lewis Perry of Woodford County, KY.
My ggggg grandfather Francis Perry, son of John Perry(d.1811) left Washington County in 1823 after he was married and went to Woodford County, KY, where my gggg grandfather Abell Perry was born. I am not sure why he went there, but I think it is because he had relation there, and Lewis Perry was still alive at the time. There were other Perry's there too, but the children of Lewis Perry have names similar to my John Perry, so I think there is some family connection here.
John Perry married Rachel Ray, daughter of John Ray, and they had children: Francis, Benjamin, William, James, Thomas, Elisha, Sarah, Nancy "Ann", and Elizabeth.
Now, most of these resemble the children of John Perry (b. 1745) of Orange County, VA and his wife Elizabeth (or Sarah) Leathers
Their children were:
Elizabeth Perry, born 3 Apr 1774
John Perry, born 22 Feb 1776
Moses Perry, born 30 Jul 1779
Benjamin Perry, born 22 Dec 1782
Sarah Perry, born 22 Dec 1787, married Thomas Richardson
James Perry, born 18 Dec 1789
Willis Perry, born 4 Mar 1791
William Perry, born 9 Aug 1793
Lewis Perry, born 9 Aug 1796, died 1 Apr 1885
But some if them also resemble the same names that Lewis Perry of Woodford County named his children, which makes me think there is a strong family connection here somewhere, but we just haven't found it yet. I think Elisha may have been used as the female version of Elijah, as Lewis's son was Elijah.
Also, there was a court record somewhere I seen that listed a Francis Perry and a ? Wisdom (Maybe John, I can't remember the name), as being the defendants, but this Francis had to be much older than my Francis Perry. So I have also been looking to see if there wasn't a marriage between a Frances Perry and a Mary Wisdom. Is Wisdom her maiden name though, or is that a second marriage name? I am guessing she is listed in a will or deed somewhere, but I haven't seen anything on that. I've even wondered and more after this that Francis Perry wasn't the father of both Lewis and my ancestor John, and that might be why John named his son Francis, but I don't know. There are so many possibilities at the moment.
