The father of JOHN PERRIN (1738- c1810-1820) of Brunswick, Lunenburg and Bedford Counties,VA, and later Garrard County, Kentucky, who was married to MARY BABER, daughter of ROBERT BABER and JANE PHELPS, seems to be in doubt. I am leaning to considering JOHN's father to be a SAMUEL PERRIN (b c1712),in turn a son of SAMUEL PERRIN(b c1675). I tend to believe this is the SAMUEL who witnessed a deed 6 MAR 1742 in Brunswick County for JOSEPH PERRIN, whom I am assuming may have been his brother. At least he was in the right county at about the right time to be JOHN PERRIN's father. I have ruled out two other SAMUEL PERRINs, a son of JOSEPH, and a son of WILLIAM (grandson of the same JOSEPH) because limited information indicates they would have been too young to be witnesses. The main reason I started thinking about SAMUEL as the father of JOHN is that JOHN had eight children, seven of which have given names easily traced to parents, aunts and uncles of the BABER and PHELPS families. The eighth child is named is named SAMUEL and there are no SAMUELS I have been able to find in the BABER-PHELPS group, but the name appears four times in a limited PERRIN group within three generations. There were at least four lines of PERRIN families living in Virginia in the late 1700s. Even articles in the Virginia Genealogist about these families have errors, but so little was documented at the time that I don't think very much of these lineages has been proved. Does anybody have any help on this? CHUCK PRINE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notify Administrator about this message?
