Th Swiss Perret family originally comes from the village of La Sagne in the canton of Neuchâtel.Not French Huguenots -descendants of peasants who cleared and cultivated the land there in return for their freedom, granted in 1372."Perret" comes from the name Pierre - Peter in English.
Louis Auguste Perret was born in La Sagne on 10 May 1830, son of Charles-Aimé Perret (b. La Sagne, 7 Apr 1793) and Julie Vuille.His wife was Fanny Maire.Charles-Aimé's parents were Daniel Perret (bapt. La Sagne, 1 Sep 1752) and Henriette Huguenin-Virchaux.Daniel's parents were Moyse Perret and Marie-Esther Huguenin-Matthey.Daniel's father was Moyse Perret.
Louis was a watchmaker, a traditional local craft.
