Hi, Alice,

The info that I have/had on Bessie and her family is on my old hard drive. When the technician tried to slave it into my new computer, she could not get the connection to work, so I do not have access to three years of transcription that I had done. I was going to print it out, but my printer died on me. sigh.

I am struggling to pull all the info that I had on my family tree back together into a coherent form again in paper trail form first this time. Meanwhile, the technician is trying to figure out why my computer is being so cantankerous. When I come across the info on Great-Aunt Bessie again, I will post what I have if there is any more info to be had ASAP. Until then, what I listed is all I have so far.

Any help you can give with the family tree would be really appreciated. Some of the info given to concerning the city and/or county locations for my grandfather's birth as well as his siblings has proven false. Since my funding is limited (I'm on disability), I'm having to do my research with public records available through the Dallas library only for the most part.

I also had a question for you about one of the generations where I'm confused as to whether it was John or James Permenter who was the next generation through which my line descends, but I don't have my computer program of info available to pinpoint the specific one. This is shortly after Jean Parmentier in the lineage where there are three James Permenters who have brothers and nephews named John. I don't want to waste what little money I have, pursuing the wrong man. (That sounds bad!) What I mean is, I can do only a limited amount of research that requires money and, while I am collecting info on the collateral family members for clues to my direct line, I am not documenting it other than to write down where I got the info. I'm not photocopying the documentation.

I believe that, when it comes to Jean Parmentier's children, many people are posting cousins from Canada as his children. This is a problem because people are not checking the info before they post it. So far I only have one child for Jean and that is James. More than likely there was also a John and a William, but not the one people are naming because John PARMENTON and 2-3 others are apparently Canadian cousins. Several PARMENTERs came from Canada to the Virginia area due to financial reasons.

Also, the PARMENTIER mentioned by a couple of people in postings who introduced the potato to the French people might be related to us, but he is not the same Augustin PARMENTIER believed to be Jean's grandfather because he apparently fled to England about 100 years prior to our line coming to America. This can be found by doing a quick search for Augustin PARMENTIER or the queen, Catherine De Medici, who wanted to kill all Protestants. The dates just don't jive.

The Canadian PARMENTERs came from the line which went to England before America was found and pioneers began to come to settle here. BTW, the Parmentier home is now a hotel in France. This can be found info on that by running a search on Dieppe, France.

Thanks for replying and any/all help that you can give. If you want to contact me directly, please, feel free to do so. If you need any help covering costs on any info that you send me, I'll do my best to help out with them.

Sincerely, Judi
